Residence Backup Power Silent Generator

Over the past year, this large home on the outskirts of Hull has experienced eight power cuts. As the owner admits he can cope with 2 or 3 but 8 power outages in one calendar year are just too much to rely on, it was time to find a solution that can keep elements of their home fully functional in the event of future power cuts. The owner also expressed that the power would need to continue for over 48 hours in case he was not at the residence when the next outage occurred. The customer initially looked into the idea of a second hand used generator but decided against it when he realized the low cost of a brand new Genset. The customer was not exactly sure what sized power generator they would need so they contacted Diesel generator Direct UK for advice.

The owner expressed the need for a very quiet generator as they wanted to position their new gen-set close to their stables, this let us know that we were looking at our range of silent generators as a possible solution, we asked if the stables were located far from the main house residence as perhaps he required a portable generator that could move between locations, he assured us that a portable Genset was not needed although he would prefer a small generator that did not require too large a footprint as he had the perfect place to put it. Next, we needed to find out exactly how much power the emergency generator would require to find this information out, we asked the homeowner to find out which devices and machines would need an electricity supply in a power loss situation. The customer went away and performed an evaluation by counting up and listing each individual piece of equipment that would need to be backed up by the emergency Genset.

Once the residential owner had counted up all the appliances we took the individual required amps and calculated how much kVA (what is kVA?) they would need. It turned out that the home would require just under 50kVA of power to be backed up by the gen-set so we offered the Cummins C55 D5e as we felt it was perfect for his requirements. The C55 delivers 50kVA of power in prime mode but offers 55kVA of power when used for backup or emergency use, the extra 8kVA or so would give the customer ample headroom to add more devices if he wanted to in the future. The C55D5e is also a very silent generator thanks to its close fit acoustic canopy which reduces the sound levels to just 76dBA from just one metre away from the generator, finally, the Cummins UK C55D5e diesel generator is a tier iiia emission compliant power generator which gave the customer that little extra peace of mind about his purchase. As the client had expressed a need for the generator to be operational for 48 hours should it be required, he also needed the Genset to kick into action the moment it detected a drop in electricity supply from the mains grid. Along with the generator, we attached an ATS panel to the unit to start-up the set in the event of a power outage we also created a bunded fuel tank to exactly the same size tas the C55D5e to sit directly underneath the generator and not require any more footprint than the generator is already using up.
